Steve Vidlock - Owner
Steve primarily focuses in the employee benefit plans area and venture capital firms, and has over 25 years of experience in a variety of other engagements, including electronics, software developers, construction companies, venture capital firms, non-profit organizations and hotels.

Steve is one of the firm’s specialists on ERISA and is the partner with overall technical responsibility for employee benefit plan audits and related consulting engagements for over 15 years.  MNW performs over 500 benefit plan audits on an annual basis.  These audits are primarily 401(k) plans, with the remainder being profit sharing, ESOP, health and welfare, and defined benefit plans.  Steve has attended courses prepared by the American Society of Pension Actuaries and the National Institute of Pension Administrators; both organizations provide certification and training to benefit plan consultants.  He has given presentations on employee benefit plan audits and other accounting and auditing topics to local organizations, a subcommittee of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and at the annual conference of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants on the Audit of Employee Benefit Plans.

Steve is also one of the firm’s specialists in the audit of venture capital firms working with start up funds to funds in their twilight choosing to transition from the Big Four as they prepare to dissolve.  He has worked closely with his team to insure the transition is a smooth one and has developed contacts at the Big Four to assist in the process.

A graduate of San Jose State University, Steve joined a local premier San Jose accounting firm that later merged with an international firm.  Prior to joining MNW, Steve was a corporate controller for a high technology manufacturing company where his responsibilities included implementing and maintaining financial report systems, cost accounting, cash flow forecast, annual budgets, personnel, benefits and day-to-day operations.
