Bay Area Green Business
January 20, 2009 (Campbell, CA) —Santa Clara County officially certified Mohler, Nixon & Williams (MNW) as an environmentally sustainable "Green Business" for the firm’s proactive steps in conserving natural resources. The accounting firm’s day-to-day operations were thoroughly reviewed to assess the ways MNW embraces environmentally safe practices in reducing pollution, waste and water use.
MNW Managing Partner Bill Kelleher stated, "We are committed to becoming a greener and more ecologically responsible business. Our clean technology and life sciences clients are spearheading the movement for resource efficiency and we are proud to follow their footsteps."
Some of the green practices utilized by MNW include:
- Purchasing energy efficient appliances, computers, servers and printers
- Recycling a broad variety of office items including paper, plastic, bottles, cans, cardboard, batteries, light bulbs and toner cartridges
- Distributing MNW’s “Mean Green Accounting Machine” reusable tote bags to all employees
- Purchasing recycled content paper and office supplies
- Host E-Waste events where employees responsibly dispose electronic waste

The Bay Area Green Business Program is a partnership of local government agencies in collaboration with the US EPA and Cal EPA Department of Toxic Substances Control. The Association of Bay Area Governments coordinates the Program in nine bay area counties. Over 1000 business and public agencies have been certified since 1997.
